fiber is the perfect material for a boom because
you can maximize stiffness and strength at
very low weight. Whereas weight is vital to
handling and acceleration, stiffness is the
most important element to getting the most
from your sail - both in terms of stability
and responsiveness.
Some manufacturers
use aluminium for tailpiece and head components
which eventually degrade and corrode, weakening
the boom. All tubing used on the MK Carbon
Pro is 100% carbon fiber including the boom
head and tailpiece tubing.
